Peering into the Past: A Student History Exhibition

Do you enjoy history?  Stories?  Field trips?

The Time Travelers do!  We're a history club for students in Grades 4-12 sponsored by the North Carolina Museum of History.  We participate in a wide variety of historical endeavors, and our students would like to share their work with you.

Visit the Person County Museum of History on Saturday, August 27, from 2 - 4 PM for an exhibition of their work.  See projects that have been entered into district, state, and national competitions - and meet the students who have researched and curated them.  Learn more about the activities and endeavors of the Time Travelers, including:

  • field trips
  • recording historical podcasts
  • blogging
  • conducting research
  • participating in local digs and artifact research
  • preparing history projects for competitions
The Time Travelers have participated in the following academic programs, and information will be available about all of them during the exhibition.
  • The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association
  • National History Day
  • Sacrifice for Freedom®: World War II in the Pacific Student & Teacher Institute
In addition to the student presenters, we are excited to be joined by a representative from the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources!
Peering into the Past is open to everyone, from students to teachers to life-long learners.  We are excited to share the hard work of local students in this first-ever public showcase.  Teachers are welcome, as well!  We'd love to share how to incorporate these or similar projects in your classroom; how to integrate project-based learning into your plans; how to access quality historical resources; where to find lesson plans; opportunities for students and teachers; how to connect with these competitions; and how to start your own history club.

Thank you to the Person County Museum of History for graciously hosting this event.  Please be sure to explore their beautiful campus during your visit!

We look forward to seeing you at this special event!
