The Time Travelers

Are you up on your North Carolina trivia?  Do you know about all the things that make this state great?  Test your skills at 1792 Beer Company on Wednesday, January 12, at 6:30 PM.  There will even be a food truck - Don Taco will be there so you can have your tacos and play, too.  Whether you're a pro at pub trivia or a total newbie, this is the place to be.  Here's out it works:   It's free to play. Play in teams of up to six. There are four rounds of play with four categories each (people, places, events, and sports) along with a bonus question, Final-Jeopardy style. No googling!   Turn your answer sheets in to the Time Travelers each round for your score to be counted.     History is coming to life on King Street in Hillsborough, North Carolina; it's face a welcoming white facade.  The large structure has sat abandoned for over fifteen years, but now the grounds are bustling with men and women determined to make it shine again. Looking for something fun to do during the quarantine and learn while you do it?  Participate in Trivia Tuesday! 1792 Beer Co. has partnered with The Time Travelers history club to host a trivia night on the topic Colonial North Carolina History .  Students in the club created sixteen questions about the rich early history of our state and invite you to play along!  Here's how it works:      1) Find the answers to the sixteen trivia questions below and write them down.  Feel free to use the internet!  Our list of online Resources for Research found here and is a great place to start.      2) Take your answers to 1792 Beer Co. to enter to win the special prize package!  Ends May 5th, 2020.      North Carolina and Person County are full of interesting history.  Some stories have been hidden over time, and the process of finding them and bringing them to the surface is an exciting adventure!  The Time Travelers' goal is to learn, preserve, and share history so that future generations can have a deeper appreciation for their heritage.  That is why today, we are sharing a list of our favorite online resources so that you, too, can go on a journey to discover the special history of North Carolina.  Whether you are playing along in our 2019 Person County History Hunt (*see below) or  are just curious about the stories that have shaped our community, these sites will lead you down a fascinating and fun research road!

      The Time Travelers history club is chartered by the North Carolina Museum of History and are a part of their Tar Heel Junior Historian Association, which gives them the opportunity to participate in events and competetions run by the Mueum.  Every spring, the Museum holds a competition for historical work by students.  Students can compete in many different ways: by building an exhibit, creating a documentary, exploring historic markers and monuments, taking photographs of artifacts, writing a magazine article, and more.  Because our goal is to learn and share history, three Time Travelers' students decided to create a documentary about a fascinating (and somewhat hidden) part of Person County history for the 2019 competition.

     The Time Travelers' history club is dreaming big and reaching far this year.  380 miles far, to be exact, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!  The rich and exciting history of this founding city is just waiting to be discovered by the seven students who want to visit.
