~ Discussed competitive project ideas:
- William Peace University in Raleigh was a hospital during the Civil War. The main building was put on the National Register of Historic Places by the Department of the Interior on June 19, 1973.
- The Moore-Stringfield House c.1895 is on Elm Street in Historic Oakwood in Raleigh. In 1899, it was the home of O. L. Stringfield and his family, including his son Lamar Stringfield, the first conductor of the North Carolina Symphony. - Kit (Mail Order) houses in the Historic Oakwood neighborhood in Raleigh.
- Historic Oakwood Cemetery began in 1866 to bury Confederate Soldiers and houses a total of 1400 of them. The cemetery includes statues and monuments, as well as tombstones. Many notable people are buried there, including numerous North Carolina governors, United States senators, and four Civil War Generals. The club agreed on aiming for a field trip to Fort Macon in the spring.
~ Discussed possible fundraisers to help fund a trip to Fort Macon:
- Decided on a Hot Chocolate and Cookie Sale on December 11th, 2018
- Luke asked Tractor Supply about having it there and they gave permission.
~ Talked about documentary ideas for the Documentary Workshop on January 10 and January 17, 2019:
- "Commercial" for the club
- Competitive project for the Tar Heel Junior Historian Annual Convention
- Miss. Bessie Daniel's house
- Dolley Madison birthplace controversy
- Enos Slaughter
- First copper mine in the United States
The club agreed to do a competitive project and chose the Dolley Madison controversy as the topic.
~ Decided to have the December meeting at the Mad Hatter Café and Bakeshop.
