Exploring Past & the Present

 


We love exploring history, and this year we decided to take our preservation work on the road!*  We're going to be heading out to real places with significant historical meaning and exploring them, then sharing what we've learned in a series of blog posts.  We Time Travelers will take turns heading up the documentation portion of each trip, so you'll see different perspectives throughout this series.  We're excited about these visits and the opportunity to examine history in up-close-and-personal ways.  Click on the titles of our posts below to read more about our journeys.

*While we want to continue preserving Miss Bessie's stories as podcasts, we aren't able to do that kind of close, technical work this year amidst the kind of social distancing that is necessary to keep our members safe.  We hope to continue that work in the future.

    History is coming to life on King Street in Hillsborough, North Carolina; it's face a welcoming white facade.  The large structure has sat abandoned for over fifteen years, but now the grounds are bustling with men and women determined to make it shine again.
